May 1st is Free Comic Book Day 2010

Every year, the first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day.  Participating stores give out free comics to anybody who comes in.  See the Free Comic Book Day site to find a store near you.

Cinco de Mayo Outdoor Fiesta

Looking for a 2010 Cinco de Mayo Celebration in Sacramento?

They are doing their yearly Cinco de Mayo celebration/festival on the 2700 block of J street again this year (includes Centro Cocina Mexicana and Harlowes).  If you haven’t been before, it is a huge party (go early to get in, or stand in line for awhile).  Starts at 4pm on May 5 till they shut it down.  There will be live music, a mariachi band and outdoor bars. Sacramento Filmmaker’s Horror Movie to Get National Theatrical Release

We slept on this because that is what we do best, but for an independent filmmaker out of Sacramento to get theatrical distribution is a pretty impressive accomplishment.  Congratulations Deon! I can’t think of any others off the top of my head.  If you know of any, let me know.

Sacramento filmmaker Deon Taylor is on the verge of a huge breakthrough: a national theatrical release for his horror film, “Chain Letter,” that was filmed here.

Top Gear Coming to America

The hit British television show Top Gear is coming to America.

The spin-off will see Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond replaced with comedian Adam Ferrara, stunt driver Tanner Foust, and reporter Rutledge Wood. via Art and Business of Motion
