Dumbworld Asks What Is The Song at The Beginning of How To Make It in America?

Back when I had HBO, How to Make It in America, the story of two entrepreneurs trying to hustle in New York, was one of my favorite shows. I always wondered who sang the title song.

Come to find out it’s none other than Stones Throw Records’s Aloe Blacc.  Continue reading

Scoring a Film

For some reason this really interested me.  Matt Mariano, performing and recording the score to Made In China.

Update: Just saw some additional scenes from Made in China, and producer James Choi spoke on the film.  Was shot on the HVX200, won the grand prize award at SXSW, was shot for “a little more than $10,000” and got a distribution deal.  Just shows what you can do with a good story.

Tiger Woods Returns in 3D?

If you care, I guess you couldn’t make this stuff up if you wanted to: Tiger Woods times comeback to coincide with the first broadcast of the Masters Golf Tournament in 3D.

“The production will primarily focus on the second nine of Augusta National and will be distributed live to those in the U.S. with television sets and computers that are 3-D capable,” the Masters Tourney announcement said.

It should be an even more over-the-top media circus. Awesome!

Footage from Rodriguez’s Predator Sequel Predators Revealed at SXSW

From Wired:

As in the original film, every Predator is a trophy hunter and an expert in stalking and killing its prey, but each monster has its own specialized skill. There’s a falconer Predator who has a little UAV that serves as its eyes in the sky, a dog handler Predator (we got to see production art of its dog, sort of a dinosaur-wolf hybrid) and a “Super Predator” the production team refers to as “Mr. Black.”

Rodriguez is a writer and producer on the project.  A trailer was up but has been removed by 20th Century Fox. The movie comes out in July.

Looks Interesting. . .

The Most Expensive Documentary Ever Made- Oceans

Vodpod videos no longer available.

more about “The Most Expensive Documentary Ever M…“, posted with vodpod

Was reading in Film and Digital Times about the film Oceans and all of the work that went into it. From the producers and directors of Winged Migration, it is a film that was five years in the making.  It opens in the US on April 22nd, and is distributed by DisneyNature. Here is a link to the French trailer, which is a little less “Disneyfied”
