The Sacramento Film and Music Festival is Looking for Music for The 2010 Sac Music Seen Program

Sac Music Seen pairs local musicians with local filmmakers to create music videos.  Dumbworld has participated a few times, and it is always good to see your work on the big screen (which is always a learning experience). The deadline for music submissions is March 26th.  See sacfilm.com for more info.

The Insertion of Handsome Dave

Greetings to all-

I would like to introduce myself to all of those who dont yet know who i am or have

not yet felt my presence. My name is Handsome Dave. I am a Sacramento resident and have

well as an A’s fan so if i seem bias toward them that you understand), Sacramento life(both

day and night), world events, music and basically anything that i think you may want/need to

know.
Well if you have any questions for me or my staff or if there is something you would like to

Sacramento News and Review: Best of Sacramento 2008

SNR’s annual “Best of Sacramento” edition is out in print today.  I can’t see Andy Nguyen’s as Readers’ Choice Winner for best vegetarian restaurant without thinking that I liked it better when it used to cater to meat eaters like me (am I alone?)– what I would do right now for a rice noodle salad bowl with satay chicken.  Congratulations to Andy Nguyen’s just the same.

Of course the first category I looked at was the readers’ choice award for best Filmmaker.  Here were the results:

  1. Jourdan McClure
  2. Ryan Todd
  3. Mike Carroll and Sarah Kreutz (tie)

Ryan and Mike are both fantastic filmmakers, but I wasn’t as familiar with Jourdan or Sarah (although I knew Jourdan won an award for the Sac Music Seen portion of the Sac Film and Music Festival this year).

Thank you Internet.

An interview with Jourdan for Fringe magazine and one with Sarah at Indie Fest USA where she was publicizing her movie Elsa Letterseed.  Congrats to all the winners.

The Bennys– We Be One– Sac Music Seen and Results of Bass Rocs premiere ( Bennys Music Video starts about 9 minutes in)

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Saturday night was the Sac Music Seen program of the Sacramento Film and Music Festival, where over 20 music videos from local filmmakers, paired with local musicians were shown.  Lots of really cool videos (too many to name– and I’d say that the quality of videos was a giant step up from last year).  Starting off the night was a short documentary about the Sac Music Seen, followed by the Bennys video for We Be One (directed by Erik Espera and John Jiminez).  Fun stuff.

Also, we had a music video (Mr Volcano– Bass Rocs) that premiered at the program.  A definite learning experience.  It didn’t look up to par on the big screen.  Two words– NTSC Monitor (Or is that 5 words?).  As in, we have to use one– mine is broken.  Very dissapointing, but again- it was a learning experience.  There is always next year.  Mr Volcano and Lil V came through– which was cool. I have a little video from the event that I will try to post if I get time this week.

Bass Rocs Premiere Press Release

I know I have posted ad nauseum on this one, but I just sent out my first press release, and I was so excited about the fact that I had a need for a press release– I’ve decided to post it here

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monday, August 4,  2008

Dumbworld Video and Film Productions to world premiere the music video for the single, Bass Rocs by Mr Volcano, Featuring The Rocket Scientist at the Sac Music Seen program of the Sacramento Film and Music Festival

Sacramento, California, USA –  On Second Saturday, in downtown Sacramento- at the historic Crest Theatre- August 9th at 7:30pm—Dumbworld is proud to present the music video for the single, Bass Rocs, by Mr. Volcano featuring the Rocket Scientist.

The musical artist, Mr. Volcano can only be described as a masked emcee with an ill mean streak who is bent on world domination, and only Dumbworld could create a video to match.  The video would have to be described as Nacho Libre meets Frankenstein meets Rocky.

The festival marks the world premiere of the video, along with the showing of over 20 other videos by Sacramento filmmakers teamed up with Sacramento musicians, in the Sac Music Seen program of The Sacramento Film and Music Festival.   Be early because you won’t want to miss the fireworks (Will there really be fireworks, you ask?  Trust me, we have seriously thought about looking into filing the necessary permits with the powers that be).

A Dumbworld Music Video Premiere- Teaser for Bass Rocs Music Video

A teaser for a music video that we did for the Sac Music Seen portion of the Sacramento Film and Music Festival.  This teaser is the prologue for the music video– showing Lil V (Mr. V as a young one, before his goal of world domination).

Sneak Preview: Image from Mr Volcano, Bass Rocs video

Above is a graphic that we created for the Bass Rocs video that will be showing as part of the Sac Music Seen program at the Sacramento Film and Music Festival.  It is the “cover” of a comic book for the video.  The theme of the video is a comic book about the adventures of Mr Volcano.  In this particular episode, Mr Volcano fights Mascara contra Mascara (Mask against Mask) with the sinister and mysterious El Carnicero (The Butcher).  Loser loses their mask.

I should have a teaser and some more images up in the next couple of days.

The Bennys on TV for Sac Music Seen

I had the opportunity to work crew on a special promotional music video for the Sac Music Seen portion of the film festival.  The video was for the Bennys.  The Bennys are to appear on KXTV 10’s morning show Sac & Co. on Thursday August 7th (at 8:30am) to promote the festival.  Watch it if you get a chance.
